What is our Mission?
Matthew tells us in 28:18-20 that Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This is why the mission at FBC Cadillac is simple; Make Disciples. We seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ who are reproducing and continuing to make more disciples of Christ.
What is a Disciple?
A disciple is someone who is following Christ, continually being transformed by God’s grace, and is living on mission for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Matthew 4:19 says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Jesus tells his disciples to follow him. He then tells them that as they follow him they will be transformed as they’re living with a new purpose given to them by Christ.

The Discipleship Roadmap?

Disciples of Jesus Christ will reflect the characteristics of Christ. Jesus tells us in John 15:4-5, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” As we continue to pursue Christ with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength we will continue to reflect the image and heart of Christ. That never changes. However, how that happens in each community and how each church is best equipped to empower that process is different. The Discipleship Roadmap is the tool we use to best help people navigate that process and measure growth at FBC. That is not to say there are not other ministries and practices that can help us grow as Christians, but this is the best way we, as a church, can help our congregation move forward collectively.

Visiting

People are seeking God and visiting FBC. We aim to quickly move people to the next stage of the discipleship process, "Connected to Community."

Connecting

People are in some kind of meaningful connection to the life-giving body of Christ at FBC. They are becoming part of the family themselves, growing in depth of relationship with the people of FBC.

Committing

People are committed to community at First Baptist Church and are making intentional commitments to grow in their faith.

Disciple Making

People are committed to the discipleship process with a desire to lead others to grow as disciple makers; evidenced and measurable by the acronym MARCS (Missional, Accountable, Reproducible, Communal, Scriptural).

Multiplying

People who are intentionally reproducing more leaders. Multipliers are leaders of leaders, training and empowering others to raise up the next group of leaders and reproducing their discipleship groups.
